Trey Mills picks up $3,000 in Fall Classic prelim at Whynot Motorsports Park
Heading back to the famed House of Hook over the weekend, Trey Mills joined a stout field of 48 Super Late Models at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Miss.) on Friday evening for the first night of the 31st-annual Coors Light Fall Classic.
Puting in the eighth-fastest lap in his qualifying group, Mills started third in his heat race and charged to the victory over Payton Freeman. Trey started on the front-row of the 30-lap preliminary feature and wrestled the lead away from Brandon Overton. Leading the final 20 circuits, Trey picked up the $3,000 payday and recorded his fifth victory of the season.
In the $20,000 finale on Saturday, Mills finished runner-up in his heat race and started eighth in the 60-lap feature event. Trey ran as high as fourth in the race, but wound up back in ninth when the checkered flag flew.
