Trey Mills earns career-high payday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Cotton Pickin'
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (09/22/25) – For the second time this season, Trey Mills has rewritten the script on the biggest win of his career.
After banking $7,500 with a triumph in the Herald & Review 100 earlier this year, Mills overcame a flat left-rear tire in the closing moments of Saturday’s Cotton Pickin’ at Magnolia Motor Speedway to collect a career-high $20,000 payday. The victory marked his fourth overall win of the 2025 season.
“I was trying to save (my tires) as long as I could and I seen (Ethan) Dotson slip out of (turn) two one time and we’re racing in the rubber for 20 grand,” Mills said. “I filled the hole, we made a little bit of contact, but we’re racing for $20,000, the biggest win of my career, so I took the chance and got it done. Then we had that (left rear) flat on the last corner of the race and I thought I lost it. I was holding on, but we managed to get the job done.”
The two-day event at the Mississippi oval kicked off Friday night with qualifying and heat races for the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) weekend. Mills set the pace in time trials with a blistering 14.018-second lap, earning the overall fast qualifier award courtesy of Mark Martin Automotive. He followed it up with a runner-up finish in his heat race, locking himself into Saturday’s 60-lap feature.
Starting sixth in the main event, Mills immediately charged forward—climbing to fourth on the opening lap and into second by lap 10. On lap 29, he overtook early leader Ethan Dotson and held off a hard-fought challenge in the closing laps to capture his first-ever CCSDS triumph.
Despite contact on lap 48 that led to a deflating left-rear tire, Mills powered through the final circuits to secure the richest payday of his career.

Next up, Trey Mills heads to the Peach State for an Ultimate Super Late Model Series doubleheader at Golden Isles Speedway. The weekend opens with a $3,000-to-win preliminary on Friday, followed by a $7,000-to-win finale on Saturday.
